A JOKE

A Christian and an Atheist are in a bar, the christian says “if you don’t believe in god you will go to hell.” the atheist replies “if there was a benevolent supreme being, logic dictates that there would be proof of his existence other than a 2,000 year old book.” they agree to set aside their petty differences and get on with their lives.

“I am in love - and, my God, it is the greatest thing that can happen to a man. I tell you, find a woman you can fall in love with. Do it. Let yourself fall in love. If you have not done so already, you are wasting your life.” — D.H. Lawrence

A time for minimalism...

It has come. I’ve come to terms with the very real possibility that the next year or so could be the toughest of my life up to now. Tough because I have no idea what kind of challenges await me, but one thing is for certain, the challenges are coming. Most likely, the next year will see me moving more than a couple times with somewhat imposed/self-imposed limited resources, and for that, I will need to make some changes. Over the next month, I will:

  1. Make a list of everything I own.
  2. Sell half.
  3. Whatever doesn’t sell, I will donate or throw away (books are the exception).
  4. Of the remaining clothes, I will pack up all of the winter items for the next 6 months and keep them with the books I don’t intend on reading over the next year.
  5. Trade the unnecessarily expensive and gas guzzling car for a much more modest, economical, and practical one. (DONE)
  6. Do my best to only buy things that I absolutely need. (watching a couple episodes of Hoarders should do the trick)

Basically it’ll just be me, my car, my bike, computer, blender, cell phone, clothes, a few good books and other minor belongings.

I’ve heard the secret to happiness is having less things to worry about so you can live your life the way you want. I’m already an extraordinarily happy person, so I’m curious to see what this will do for me.  I’ll report any interesting findings.
